Cellular & More Receives Recognition from Volunteers of America for Adopting Families in the Community Since 2012
March 2016: Cellular & More was recognized as a “Faithful and Kind Sponsor of Adopt A Family” by directly adopting struggling families in the community. For the 2015 Christmas Season, Cellular & More adopted 14 families, bringing the total to 41 families since 2012.
“This has quickly become one of our company’s favorite community involvement projects and something employees feel they get as much out of it as they give,” stated Dean Leja, Cellular & More Chief Operating Officer.
Cellular & More Donates to the John George Home
February 2015: Cellular & More donates $3,000 to The John George Home in Jackson, Michigan. Since 1949, the home has been providing a safe and independent living environment for low-income elderly gentlemen who may otherwise have nowhere else to turn for help. They offer a variety of services to meet the needs of each unique resident. "We have a history of giving back to the communities where we do business and this home provided an opportunity to help our neighbors in the Jackson community", stated Dean Leja, Cellular & More Vice President.
4th Annual Adopt-A-Family (AAF): Cellular & More Adopts 12 Famillies
January 2015: Cellular & More adopted 12 families for Christmas. The goal of the AAF program is to provide a complete Christmas experience for a local family in every community that our stores are located in. The families receive toys, clothing and household items, as well as Christmas dinners when needed.
"We're thrilled to say that this year, the program was successful beyond expectation and we were able to extend the scope of assistance to include the addition of grocery store gift cards for the families," stated Dean Leja, Cellular & More Vice President.
Cellular & More Provides Christmas to Eight Local Families Through it's Adopt-A-Family Program
Cellular & More adopted eight local families this year in an effort to give back to the communities we do business in. In cooporation with Volunteers of America and the Livonia Goodfellows, each store was given their own local family and the employees were given the privilege of shopping for each individual family member.
They were able to meet some basic needs of the families (coats, boots, etc.) as well as provide additional items including toys, gift cards, and Christmas decorations. In addition, one family was given tickets to a Monday Night Lions Football Game.
"It's important to give back to our communities," stated Dean Leja, Cellular & More Vice President. "And, quite frankly, we walk away feeling better remembering the true meaning of Christmas."
Cellular & More Celebrated the Sounds of Summer by Sending Three Lucky Clients to Summer Concerts
Cellular & More celebrated the Sounds of Summer by running a series of concert promotions as a way to give back to our valued clients. The promotions included tickets to 3 different concerts: Bon Jovi, Jay Z & Justin Timberlake, and Kenny Chesney.
Sherry Lynn D. won the tickets to the July 18, 2013 Bon Jovi concert from the "Like Us on Facebook to WIN" contest. Andrew P. replied to a Cellular & More email to win Jay Z & Justin Timberlake tickets. And, Susan D. won tickets for the Kenny Chesney show by entering a code on the C&M website that she received in-store.
Cellular & More Donates Over $10,000 to Raise Breast Cancer Awareness
Cellular & More, has donated $10,700 to Steph’s Stompers, a team participating in the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure. For a one-month period, a portion of Cellular & More sales were donated to help Steph’s Stompers raise money for their team in the Detroit Race for the Cure 2013.
“With a woman dying of breast cancer every 74 seconds, the more awareness we can bring to this disease the better,” stated Stephanie Bourdon, founder of Steph’s Stompers and breast cancer survivor.
This was Steph’s Stompers 4th year participating and they had a goal of increasing breast cancer awareness and raising $9,000. Cellular & More’s donation, coupled with team-generated donations, helped Steph’s Stompers raise nearly $14,000 (of which 75% of the net income stays in Macomb, Oakland and Wayne counties to fund breast cancer screening, treatment support and education programs).
“If we can help find a cure and bring awareness to even one person, that is one more life we can help save,” Bourdon said.
Cellular & More Adopts Seven Michigan Families for Christmas
Cellular & More's Adopt-A-Family Program helped seven Michigan families-in-need have a merrier Christmas. Each of our stores were able to adopt a family within their own community. The families were provided with warm clothing, toys, household items and full Christmas dinners.
"Being able to help local families gives us a real sense of community and helps us remember the true meaning of Christmas," stated Dean Leja, Cellular & More Vice-President.
Additional donations were accepted from our loyal customers, Meijer and Bob Evans Restaurant.
Cellular & More Donates $6,154 to Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation
Cellular & More, a Verizon Wireless premium retailer, donated $6,154 to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF). From December 1, 2011, to January 7, 2012, Cellular & More raised money based on their sales and collected in-store donations for the Detroit Moose vs. Red Wings Alumni charity hockey game benefiting the JDRF. The game was held January 7 at the Arctic Edge Ice Arena in Canton and $20,000 was raised to help find a cure for Type 1 Diabetes.
“With nearly 2,000 people in attendance, this was the largest crowd we’ve ever had,” Detroit Moose Captain Derek Fowler said. “We’re very happy we had the support of Cellular & More to help us raise money and awareness for such a great cause.”
Last year the Detroit Moose and Red Wings Alumni Association played to benefit the Epilepsy Foundation of Michigan. The event raised $16,250 for the charity.
Canton Team Wins Cellular & More Road Rally
Congratulations to Clark Saulsberry, Kristina Saulsberry, Katy Land and Danny Ferris of Canton, Mich., for winning the Cellular & More Road Rally August 20, 2011. They received vouchers for free smartphones of their choice with 2-year ProtectCell membership plans.
Twenty-nine people competed in the race, driving around the Novi area looking for and solving clues using their smartphones.
